A Break, Sunglasses, and Greens

Eyeglasses and eye test chart with letters

Do you wear glasses or corrective contact lenses? According to The Vision Council of America, 75% of adults use some sort of vision correction. To protect your vision, there are several important preventative steps you can take. Why not try a few of these out?

Give your eyes a break
Most of us spend all day in front of a computer screen, and many of us go home and spend time in front of a television screen as well. All of that screen time and eye strain is not good for our eyes! The American Optometric Association recommends following the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, try taking a 20-second break viewing objects 20 feet away.

Wear sunglasses
Exposing our eyes to UV rays is dangerous; it can deteriorate vision, be a cause of cataracts or lead to macular degeneration. Make sure to carry a pair of sunglasses with you to protect your eyes during the daytime.

Eat your greens
Do you feel like everyone is always telling you to eat your vegetables? Here’s why: leafy green vegetables supply a HUGE about of nutritious vitamins and minerals your body needs. Find out more about what to eat to protect your vision.
