Think You’re Too Busy to Stay in Shape?

We all know it’s difficult to stay in shape, especially with a busy schedule. It can be demoralizing to have put in countless hours and effort into improving yourself, only to get sidetracked and not be able to get back into your fitness or health routine. However there are a couple simple exercises that you can do almost anywhere that require very little equipment. These exercises allow you to work on your whole body, and should be used when you aren’t able to make it to the gym for your normal workout.

The first exercise you should start performing are proper pushups.

  1. Lay face down on the floor and put your hands on the ground about a shoulder-width apart, and hold your body up with your arms extended.

  2. Lower your body down until your chest almost touches the floor.

  3. Push your upper body back up to the starting position.

  4. When you reach the starting position pause briefly, then repeat for as many repetitions as needed.

Another great exercise you can use at home are squats.

  1. Stand straight with your feet shoulder-width apart, and your arms extended in front of you.

  2. Take a breath and squat. Keep your feet and knees straight and squat until your hips are below your knees.

  3. Now drive your weight into your heels and return to the starting position.

  4. Repeat for as many repetitions as necessary.

The third exercise you should be performing is the reverse lunge, with or without dumbbells.

  1. Stand up with your feet shoulder-width apart. Put your hands on your hips or at your sides if you are holding dumbbells.

  2. Keep your chest up and take a step back with your right foot. Keep your weight on your forward heel and lower your right knee until it almost touches the floor.

  3. Drive your weight into the heel of your forward foot and return to the starting position.

  4. You can alternate the foot you use to step back until you have reached your repetition goal.

These 3 exercises are great when you don’t have time to get the gym because they work large muscles in your body, and they use a wide range of motion. These exercises can also be done only using your bodyweight, can be done anywhere, and only consume a minimal amount of time. Use these 3 simple but great exercises when you are low on time, and they will help keep fit.

*Always check with your doctor first to make sure you are healthy enough for exercise.
