Healthy Work Habits

healthy work habitsAs Americans, we spend more time at work than people in other countries. Not only does this mean we are working longer hours, it means that we are stationary for longer than others. The amount of time you spend sitting at a desk, coupled with poor dietary choices, can have a negative impact on your overall health. With a little planning and dedication, it is easy to reverse or prevent the effects of unhealthy work habits. Check out some of our favorite tips below:

  1. Snack Healthy

It is too easy to opt for chips from the vending machine, cookies at social event, or doughnuts from a local bakery. While it is perfectly acceptable to indulge every now and then, it is good practice to keep a stock of healthy snacks on hand, so you’ll have something that’s good for you when that midday hunger strikes! Fruit, nuts, and yogurt are all great options.

  1. Take Healthy Breaks

Instead of heading to a local fast food restaurant or heading somewhere in the car during your break time, get out there for a brisk walk. Walking outside on your lunch break will help your day go by faster, increase your energy and improve your mood!

  1. Drink Enough Water

It can be easy to forget to drink water throughout the day. Make sure you’re keeping track of your water intake. Aim for 2 bottles throughout the work day if you typically only drink 1 or 0 bottles of water.
