National Immunization Awareness Month

The goal of National Immunization Awareness Month is to stress the importance of vaccines, and encourage everyone to make sure their vaccinations are up to date. Vaccines are the first line of defense to protect your body against disease and illness. Each year thousands of people suffer from diseases that are easily preventable if they were vaccinated.

It is nearly impossible to completely wipe a disease off the face of the Earth, which is why vaccines are necessary. Germs still exist for many of the diseases that vaccines protect against, and these germs can be spread by people who aren’t vaccinated against them.

Vaccines are particularly important to children, and school is right around the corner. It is recommended that parents check their child’s vaccine records, and get any necessary vaccinations done before the school year starts. Schools are where illnesses and diseases flourish, and it is extremely important to protect your children with the proper vaccinations. Vaccines are proven to prevent the spread of diseases and can be lifesaving. If your child is due for any vaccinations, please see your pediatrician and get your child vaccinated before the school year starts.

There are certain theories that vaccines are unsafe, and this couldn’t be further from the truth. Vaccines go through rigorous testing and trials before they are approved. The FDA scrutinizes every vaccine, test, and trial to make sure a vaccine is safe. With all of these tests and studies be sure that vaccines are safe for you and your family.

This August be proactive and check your family’s vaccination records. If anyone is due for a vaccination, please schedule an appointment with your doctor. Vaccinations are important to protect you and your loved ones from preventable diseases, take advantage of National Immunization Awareness Month.
